Banana

Simon is eating chunks of mushy food. He's too grown up!

Backyard!

I've seen an owl, bats, a hummingbird, a woodpecker, squirrels, cute little puffy birds, jays, crows, funny black birds with yellow beaks, snakes, and various other creatures. The birds are loud, always around, and wonderful. I live with nature! Nature!

Today my grandpa, Lyle Chandler, passed away. I thought I had a picture of him holding Simon after he was just born, but I remembered he was too nervous to hold him then. He was still very excited and happy to see the tiny guy, though. We'll miss you grandpa.

Carpentry Class!

For Christmas, Bob signed me up for an introduction to carpentry class for women at the Rebuilding Center. The class was this weekend and it was fantastic.

I used a circular saw, table saw, chop saw, and an assortment of drills, clamps, and other small items. My favorite is the chop saw - it's fun, easy, and doesn't make me feel like I'm going to kill or injure myself or someone nearby.

On Saturday I made a tool box. That was supposed to be our project for both days, but we all finished early, so today I made a bird house. I love this stuff.

gardening

Today I weeded a little, Bob planted peas (though I think it's too late, and they may not grow), and I transplanted some yellow bush things from a spot they wandered off to, back to where all their friends are in the wall. We planted potatoes, but they didn't grow, and probably won't. Sad. I think, though, that we'll plant squash where they would have been.

Anyway, it's sunny, and we did things in the yard, and that is great.
