fun in the sun
This super hot weekend we spent some time in the baby pool and at the park. Simon went in a swing for the first time and gave me kisses for the first (and so far only) time.

Baby Party!
Since Cherise, Kiel, Alyssa, and Rowan were all in town, we had a barbeque at our house. The babies liked each other. I like my friends. It was a good night.

Karaoke
A boy after daddy's own heart. (In case you didn't know, Bob is a karaoke master. Apparently, Simon is going to be too)

I love St. Johns
We went to Cathedral park and enjoyed the sun, the ducks, the river, a few other kids, and some dogs. Well, Simon enjoyed the dogs. I scowled at them.

Standing Man
Simon is using our hands to stand up all the time now. Once he's up he can walk, or stand still and let go of one hand. He hasn't pulled up on anything besides us yet, and he hasn't stood on his own.
So here's the question - when will he first stand without holding anything?
And the big question - when will he take his first steps?
Leave a guess in the comments, if you're the closest to being right, you'll win a prize!

oh so tired
I am thinking something is slightly wrong. I am exhausted. Regardless of how much sleep I get - which is almost always about 8 hours a night - I am tired. I thought I was eating well, but maybe not. I thought walking Simon around every day would be enough exercise, at least to keep me from being worn down, but maybe not. Maybe I need more iron, more sun, more coffee, less coffee, less sugar, less dairy or bread. I really don't know. I suppose I should start trying to work it out, but I'm too worn out. Maybe I will take another nap.

A Multitude of Firsts
Recently Simon has started standing up holding our hands, drinking out of his cup by himself, saying a word and knowing what it means, going bweh-da bweh-da bweh-da by swiping his hand over his mouth while mumbling, and today, his first hair cut. It's really choppy, since you can't really get a baby to stop moving, but I think it stills looks all right.

Num Num Num!
Simon has a first word!
Yesterday I was feeding him and saying "yum" after each bite. One bite, he said "um!" afterward. He didn't really do it again. But this morning, after I said yum, he said "num!" We got really excited, and he was saying "num num num" after most bites.
